For this weeks in depth artist hand over let me introduce you to Custom Horror
2008, was the year that changed everything for me. That's when I decided to finally pursue a career as an artist and I gave birth to my alter-ego Custom Horror. It was the start of a long fruitful journey of experimentation and balancing side jobs and time to create.
Fast forward to 2021. I made this crazy leap into the NFT world. And within 4 months I ditched my side-gig as a barista, to dive headfirst into being a full-time artist. It was a gamble, and it made sense at the time, but hey, you gotta follow your passion, right?
Since then, it's been a wild ride. Over a thousand wallets now hold my digital art. Can you believe it?
And sales? Don't even get me started! I've racked up over $230k in sales, with some pieces going for as much as $3,100. It's nuts.
I'm proud of having some of web 3's biggest names like XCOPY. FVKRENDER collect my work, I admire their success, and I have collectors in the community supporting me by showing up every day on discord the past 3 years. It all gives a major buff to the confidence during harsh times.
My style? rapid brushstrokes, intricate details, embracing the ugly and just going with the flow. I try to express my emotions, my thoughts and any stupid jokes that come to mind. I'm not taking my work too seriously, yet it's the most important thing in my life on par with my romantic life.
My current style was born during a ketamin spiced LSD trip. It was the first of it's kind for me, a trip I chose to indulge in after a years long break from psychedelics. It drastically changed my approach to art that night, it gave birth to a piece called Gates to Intuition #1. This was long before I hit the NFT scene. But t was a pivotal moment in how I work now.
So, here I am, still painting, still creating. It's all about pushing boundaries, leaving your mark, and maybe inspiring a few folks along the way.
Custom Horror's artistic style intricately weaves together elements of cheerful whimsy with dark, nonsensical, and grotesque themes, crafting a mesmerisingly surreal and unsettling experience for the viewer.
